Post [HH Nations Cup] - Administration to server
Howya doing, this is just a quick guide on how to admin the server when it comes to match time. As everyone knows, all the regs have admin access to the HH3 server where all matches will take place. Try and nominate one of the leaders to control admin commands so there isnt 20 admins doing the one job.

Now i must specify after you have finished the match please exec the normal server config. If you do not you may find frog spawn on your ass afterwards (aka frog will ride you), I cannot be held responsible for this.

This is a new bit due to frog setting up a proper config for the tournament. Please follow these rules to admin the server.
Again it is very easy to set up the server.
When you go into the server, a captain must exec the 'HH nations cup' config. This will set a password on the server which comes up in chat, this also prevents public players from joining the server. Once everyone has arrived for the match and you are due to get going, make sure you reset the map. A captain must open admin and load the map again, this will reset the demo that is taken of the match to prevent 10 minutes of messin about on the front of the demo. Please remember to do this. After the match is finished as I mentioned a captain must set the config back to the usual public config.

Cheers
Crak

Always remember, the CONFIGS NEED TO BE RESET once you leave the server.

I'm not entirely sure on the name, but the config needs to be changed back to the standard server one.

not sure why you posting this up before the teams ar filled / a match day is picked :?

It's important to set a date so people will know IF they can be available etc no point signing up if you think the idea is cool but yr brother is getting married or something.

My impressions from the other sign-up post was that matches would be arranged by the team leaders with the opposition leaders. Therefore no firm dates set etc..

I like the idea I really do, however crakIShadow has yet to face the wall of indifference from members and regs that sign up for events and never follow their duties through.

There will need to be a lot of redundancy in the teams to allow for events to take place, otherwise it will degenerate into a "get a ringer" random pub style effort.

Give the guy some credit. The sign-ups are still in progress. crakIShadow is just doing something in the mean time that is of benefit when (or if) it does happen. I am sure once there has been enough sign-ups then the next step will be scheduling.

Anyone that is willing to put some energy into trying to organise events like this should be supported and encouraged. Nit-picking isn't going to help too much :) :P :D [beer]

On a related note. I will update the existing community match configs on the HH3 server to include the new ETF2L format, which includes the disabling of random damage.

Well as I have mentioned before to me it seems best to have a one-day tourney on a fixed date which would facilitate the availability issue.

This is based on the experience of the first HH cup.

Could be picking nits but I'm just trying to help evade the fiasco that the HH cup has become. Thats all. I'm 100% behind this event and willing to help out but I stand by the points I pointed out in the members section (and which I forewarded to Cracy)

Thanks for the support frog

As so many of you are kindly pointing out to me that this is a massive task, which i realize it is, this is why, as frog explained, I am posting this. It is another thing crossed off the list that I dont have to do at a later date. As well as this I currently have nine sign ups to the tournament. It would not be possible to start planning agenda for matches till I know what sort of scale I have to deal with.

Akasazh, I do realize where you are coming from saying that it will be hard for everything to go as smooth as it would like to go, but to be honest, availability can never be guaranteed for anything of this sort. I cant say that I will be available for the day two weeks from now but on the other hand i cant say ill be available for this saturday either. Nothing is ever really certain and then if we get people signed up, teams made, pick a date that everyone is happy with, then we have two people whos internet dies, two more that forget, and two more that are called away on something, thats 6 players down before you even start. So whether this is run over two years or 1 day, its not gonna change the fact that people will go missing from the tournament.

Another point akasazh and forgive me for saying this, but you seem rather synical about the whole affair. Now i must point out that this is coming from probably the most synical person in the world (me) but just because the HH cup failed, doesnt mean this will. We will try and see how it goes, if two weeks from now i have the teams set up and theres no activity towards people playing matches, then i will put a hold to it and consider the one day option. For now I will stick to what the plan is and see how it goes. I do appreciate your advice and I am taking it on board so please dont think I amnt.
