Water displacement floats my boat. Most boats float by water displacement. I suppose if you made a very small boat it might float by water tension, but it would really be too small to do anything with really. Also little fishies might mistake it for an insect and try and eat it which would be a bit bad. Hydrofoils float by a form of water displacement, they use a hydrofoil to create a pressure difference along the wing which forces the boat out of the water so it can go really fast. ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.
I can't find any evidence for plugging it around the back helping to float any boat, unless you are plugging in a water pump at a power socket at the back of a boat, then that might help it float.
