Well ladies and gents as we come closer to the play offs i thought I would post to explain how the tournament will work in the play offs.

As most of you should know by now the quarter finals will be made up of 4 matches. The top two teams from each group will go into a pot. So will the two teams with the most posts that dont go through. This will create 8 teams in the quarter finals of which four matches will be made by the random selector. (this was is a slight change to original plan, suggested on by ked). Making four teams in the semis. The semi finals will go ahead to produce two winners and two losers. The losers will play off to form a third and forth place, the winners will play to form first and second. This will crown the winner of the first ever HH nations cup. A crown that players can pride themselves with for years to come (hehe)

The Quarter Finals
The quarter finals will consist of a best of 21 games match. Essentially, first to 11 wins. It will follow the same rule set as the group stages however maps will be selected at random by my random selector tool. The maps used for this selector tool will be the ones that have already been played in the tournament already (ravine, badlands, granary and lumberyard)

The Semi Finals
The semi finals will consist of a best of 25 games match. First to 13 wins. Again it follows a similiar rule set to the group stages. Again the maps will be selected at random. Ringers will not be allowed in the semi finals.

THE FINALS
The losing teams from the semi finals will play off in a best of 21 match to decide 3rd and 4th place. The map used will be the map most voted for in the above poll. The d-day final will be a big match, best of 31 matches played over two maps. Those two maps will be selected by the vote above. No ringers will be allowed in either match.


As mentioned in all three parts, the matches will be turning to a 'best of' format. If teams wish to play on and finish the match to the exact amount of games they are welcome to as long as the server is not booked.

Surely the 1st place team should play off against a 2nd place team from another group?

And if I read it correctly a team that came 3rd will be guaranteed a place in the semi final?

Ked to address your points

1. Well no i didnt really want that, the whole thing was to try and make it as fair as possible to spread things out and not shove the really good teams against the moderately good teams. Either way the best is going to win by the end of the day. But if there is more people that go against this I will change it, thats why it is posted sooner rather then later.

2. Yea it does mean a 'third' place team gets through, ill get others opinion on that and I may change it that the third place teams are thrown in the random selector for the matches. However if you want the third place teams to go against other teams, then I will have to randomly select the teams and not do what you wish in your first point that the first place teams play against the second place teams.

So pick one, random selection of matches for all teams (best option i think) or first teams play second teams

I definitely think the quarterfinals would be more interesting if the teams haven't played each other before.

Makes no sense to me to make 1st and 2nd from each group play again.

Nah dirty jesus what ked was suggesting is that the 1st team from one group play the second team in another. However I am just going to change it to random selection for all four matches. 8 teams go into the pot, four matches are created. Ill edit the first post now.

Is this happening monday tuesday next week ?

As I want to put a date on the 16 v 16 match v gaming masters

I think there's still one match to be played before those...

Gimp, there is still one more group match to go before the play offs start. Can you pick a date for the 16v16 so the team captains can work around it for their group stage matches. Im just being a very organized irishman (they exist i swear!!)

Yeah I got that. I was agreeing with him. The playoffs should really look like this:

winner group 1 V runner up group 2
winner group 2 V runner up group 3
winner group 3 V runner up group 1

Makes it far more interesting to play and watch. Plus its a more thorough test of each team.

Aren't there 2 wildcard teams also entered into the quarters though?

i.e. the top 2 teams from each group, plus the 2 best performing 3rd place teams go through so we have 8 teams in the quarters?
