Post subject:  [HH Nations Cup2] - Things to sort

**Please read below and only vote on this if you have signed up to the tournament. Comments are welcome from all!**

Howya folks, There have been some issues brought up that need to be sorted for this tournament. Just a few things that need some comments before they are implemented into this tournament.

This topic will work different to a normal vote to prevent the posting of six different topics. Each person has 6 votes. Please only vote if you have signed up for the nations cup this time round. Comments are welcome from all people.
1. Read the information on each question before voting
2. If you agree with the change, please comment and vote.
3. If you do not agree with the change, please comment but do not vote

The voting options
1 Koth? There has been call from a few people to change the format of the tournament this time to KOTH gamestyle. However people have made complaints that KOTH mode tends to kill fps. Please only place your vote if you wish to change the tournament to KOTH gamestyle. Comments are welcome.

2 Maps? During discussion for the last tournament, players complained that they did not get to play different maps. They also complained that maps were sometimes bad to play on. What has been suggested is that I choose the map for each round of games. So everyone must play a certain map on each round of matches. Please place your vote if you agree to this change. Comments are welcome.

3 Ringers? The last tournament saw the need for many ringers. As will be the case for this tournament. Something that has changed is that there are now five man teams. The question is that are 5 man teams allowed to use ringers? My idea to this is that if a 5 man team agrees to play on a certain date without any queries, then they must field a team of four or play with 3 if people dont show. If that 5 man team gives prior notice to the opposing team that ringers may be needed for a certain match then they are allowed use one ringer if needed. Four man teams will be allowed use ringers in accordance to the rules from the last tournament. If you agree to my idea on the ringer issue please vote. Comments are welcome.

4 Length of the tournament. An issue was brought to my attention with regards to how long the last tournament ran. Do people believe the tournament length was too long and it needs to be shortened. (for anyone who does not remember, in the last tournament one match was to be played per week) One idea is to run everything within a few days but I dont believe this is possible. Also a way to do it is have 1 group of teams all on at one time on one night and have all matches played on this night. Please vote if you believe the timeline for the tournament should be changed and please comment.

5Win limit. Some people have said that the matches in the group stages in the last tournament were too small. The matches were only 15 games long. I believe I may change the match length in the group stages to 19 instead of 15. Please vote if you agree to this change. Comments are welcome.

6Unlocks? In the last tournament most captains made an agreement to ban certain unlocks in play. These unlocks usually were the sandmann and such. ETFL have now allowed all unlocks in competitve play. Please vote if you wish to follow ETFL rules and allow all unlocks. However if you do not wish to allow all unlocks, please do not vote and comment on which unlocks should be banned.

I would appreciate input on these issues so that we can sort everything out for the start of the tournament. If anyone has any other issues that they believe should be discussed please contact me immediately via pm and I will add the issue to this topic.

Cheers
Crak

2 things..

1) if you ticked the first box, most of the rest are obsolete
2) etf2l has a limit of 1 sandman per team due to the recent update

if its koth then i think a medic should be allowed as well as having all 5 players playing would also be awsom but depending on how seriously its taken. getting 5 people to play 1 map a week isnt hard

I thought this was class limit 1 anyway so that doesn't really apply.

I have a question but it didn't influence my vote:

If a team shows with only 4 players they can compete in a 5v4 game (with the possibility to call a ringer) but a 5v3 is impossible, right?

another thing: how long did the first nation cup last?

and finally and a bit off topic: i downloaded some demos of the last nation cups but i don't know how to play them. I downloaded also the CSE demoplayer v4 but my German kinda sucks balls :?

Which is what I told CrakI, which is why he posted this question. The point is, should we allow dead ringer or jarate in? Personally yes, cos they are in the game...

Shiner, it's a 4v4 game, fifth player is to limit the number of ringers needed but not all teams have 5 atm.

CrakI, you know what I feel about these:
1 - no, too many health packs, spoils the point of it
2 - yes, playing 1 map everygame is dull, but can you decided on them before the comp starts
3 - yes, fair on teams with 4
4 - yes, lets try 2 matches a week halves the time and doesn't make it too difficult
5 - yes, more wins = more rage quits! :P
6 - yes, part of the game, deal with it!

The cup is actually 4v4. So the 5th player is not needed. The 5th player is used as a spare for matches. All players in all teams must be played.

The first nations cup lasted for about 2 months I think. I am not totally sure on the actual length.

Team fortress 2 is used to play demos. Speak to one of the senior players on steam or search the old HH cup 1 topics. It is stated on one of them somewhere. I cannot remember myself.

I don't like the Koth idea as I have the impression koth-games involve a lot more "just spam the point". I liked the arena thing a lot more..

Last times tournament length was just fine with me, I think it's impossible to get everybodt together and play all games in one round on a single night.

Why use a winlimit at all?

Surely a timelimit would make scheduling a lot easier. It would allow for bigger score differences within a game. That, in turn, could help seperate teams at the end of the group that are tied on points.
