My steam ID states that I'm VAC banned, but I can still connect to servers, and I've yet to discover why. The only game I can remember even attempting to fuck with is CS1.6, and I don't even recall being successful.

You're only VAC banned on games that use the engine you cheated on. CS 1.6 doesn't use the Source engine so a VAC ban on that game won't affect TF2.
