Rules for all practise matches, ladder matches and cup matches
- All items are allowed
- All players must record demos of their play, and keep them for two weeks after the match. P-Rec is a useful utility that will record your play automatically. If an opponent or an ETF2L admin asks for demos and we can't provide them, we will be punished severely.
- A delay of 15 mins is allowed from the time agreed by both teams.
- If teams cannot agree on who will start as BLU/RED, a melee-only round will be played before the map starts. For this melee round, one person from each needs to play Heavy with normal fists (no weapon-switching, health packs, KGB or taunting allowed) and fight until only one is left standing. Please meet on a central point of the map and do not camp, hide or flee. Players who have died in the fight are not allowed to continue fighting after respawning. The winning team will decide on which side to start. If both teams like you can play this with 9 heavies vs 9 other heavies.
- No cheats, no exploits, and no using scripts to accomplish anything you cannot achieve manually (for example, a script that builds a sentry in front of you when you press shift would be fine). You may not use the 'taunt bug' where you use a combination of Taunt and Jump or taunt while falling from ledges, as this hurts the correctness of hitboxes.
- Teams may request a pause at any time during the match, for player drops, server problems or network issues. The other team is then expected to pause at the first appropriate time (not during a push) by typing 'pause' into the console. They may not unpause without giving reasonable warning to the other team. Each team has the right to one pause per map, and the pause may not last longer than five minutes.
Maps
- We will play 8 different maps in the cup: Gravelpit, Upward, Freight, Dustbowl, Viaduct, Badwater Basin, Badlands, Goldrush.
- For 5cp maps there will be a timelimit of 30 minutes. After the time is up, the team with the most rounds won wins. If at any point a team has 5 more round wins than the other (e.g. 5-0, 6-1) then the match will end early.
- For payload maps and dustbowl, one round will be played in stopwatch mode. Team A attacks first and then defends while Team B attacks. The winner is the team that captures the most control points, or if they capture the same number of control points, the team that captured them fastest according to the in-game stopwatch.
- For gravelpit and gorge, three of such rounds are played. For the first round, Team A attacks first, and for the second round Team B attacks first, so both teams have the opportunity to attack first. If both teams have won a round then a third round is played as the decider.
- For KOTH, the team that wins 3 rounds first wins the map.
Mumble
We will be using Mumble for communication rather than the in-game chat. This can be downloaded here. We will be using the HH servers, which are at mumble.thehh.co.uk:50114 . Please register on the server by clicking Self -> Register, and pass the username along to me or frog. You will be granted access to join the private Highlander channel.
Practise matches
We play matches against other Highlander teams every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 UK time, and 8:30 Central European Summer Time (CEST). You must be online and on Mumble 15 minutes prior to the match or a replacement will be found. You must also follow the ETF2L rules, which include recording a demo of your play.
