Post [New Map Night] Sunday 12 Dec from 7pm GMT
New Map Night is a weekly event where we throw up some new work in progress maps on the server and playtest them to help the map makers make improvements.

This event runs from around 7 - 9pm GMT every Sunday on HH server 5, IP address: hh5.thehh.co.uk:27055
There will be no password so as many people can join as possible. Please try to fill this server instead of heading over to HH1 or HH2 so the event can be successful. :)

The three maps we're playing on Sunday are:

The maps can be downloaded from the links above to ensure smoothness on the night itself. Place the .bsp files in your C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\(username)\team fortress 2\tf\maps folder.

Don't forget to post your feedback here in the thread afterwards!

I took the liberty of posting in these threads (actually just on the etf2l one as tf2maps seems to be down at the moment, at least for me) to invite people and map creators to join us, it might be nice for them to get some feedback.

The SourceTV demos for the three maps can be downloaded from these links:
pl_boundary_rc2
ctf_undermine_beta3
cp_bazillion_b7

Thanks for coming everyone, never seen HH5 so full for so long. :)

If you attended the event, please post your feedback in this thread so I can pass it along to the mapmakers.

Of the three maps I reckon pl_boundary_rc2 and cp_bazillion_b7 would be ready to be put on HH1 and HH2. ctf_undermine is going to have some pretty big changes to its layout I believe.

It was very fun tonight, very nice maps.

Pl_boundary:
Great payload map, i was a bit scared at first as the rail track was veeeerrrryyyy long and thought it would be too easy to defend but it was not the case. The only thing i'd like to see tweaked is may be add more width to the big ramp area. But overhaul, as someone else said, it's as good as badwater but it allows scouts to have fun and space.

Ctf_undermine:
the map was great too, but i guess you need a few minutes to really have fun and figure out where to go, i noticed the tunnels going to intel under the main bridge only at the end of the first round. but honestly i had more fun playing this map for 30 minutes that i had playing doublecross for a few months. wp Jonny :)

Cp_Bazillion:
At first i was quite unsure about the control point where you have to jump but i'ts fun, the middle point is original, but actually i think i don't have played it enough to know what i think but i had fun playing it.

Anyway very nice weekly, i ll make sure i ll be here next week.

Nice maps, nice people, nice sunday evening.

Had fun, played three good maps and I'd hope to play them again in future.

Boundary was quite pyro friendly map, especially near the third point where single pyro could airblast entire team easily into the pit. That part also had quite annoying choke point. I wouldn't mind if that area got little more wider. No other complaints.

Undermine felt quite confusing since there are a lot of routes to move around and it feels quite cramped. I also had some fps drops even when nothing was happening around me. I would suggest making some hallways slightly wider and removing some unneeded details. Just for note, I'm not really into ctf but I really had good time in this map.

Bazillion...good map but I feel it oriented too much towards the competetive classes and kinda forgot the others. For example spies might have hard time here and engineers are almost forced to use wrangler if they want to get anything done.

Bazillion seemed like a good map for spies imo, especially the final cap point base with its twists and turns and vertical drops.

Boundary was just what I like in a PL map, controlled chaos with lots of little fights all over plus a big battle over the cart. Nice variety in it's open arena -> building interior -> open walkway -> final point. The only downsides I'd say is last point is a little tricky to defend on the backfoot what with all the ways in.

Undermine needs to be stripped back a little bit with the props and cluttered textures, it makes it tough to pick out threats. It's also a little too tight and has too many blind corners which make medicing troublesome and give certain classes too big an advantage. Nice effort from Jonny though and a great first map.

Bazillion is pretty much like Gullywash - An open, uncluttered cp map that doesn't bog down anywhere and has a pretty smart mid point. Mid could be opened a fraction more and second tightened up a bit but otherwise I don't see why it won't be a hit like it's sibling map. :)

For me, boundary was the best map this night. Good balanced and great chances for every class, especially for the pyro in the middle part. I really think this was the map where you dont have to change a thing...
Undermine is very complicated with all the different ways, and imo there are too many things in the way. You cant run around smoohtliy and its hard for a medic to keep in touch with your patient. After a couple of rounds it will be better maybe, only for the first time its too hard...
Bazillion was a great map for me, playing as a scout. The cap points are very funny with the platforms and at the 2 mid points i ´had some great fights.
Only my opinion as a low-middle skilled player, so dont blame me for being wrong XD
