HAMPSHIRE HEAVIES FIGHT NIGHT SIGNUP THREAD - 9th APRIL 7PM-8PM (GMT)
HH Fight Night is a fun community match held every Saturday night from 7pm - 8pm (GMT) for two maps. All players may signup to these events, whether you're a newbie reg or an experienced league player, however Fight Night is a step up from the pub servers and you must be willing to coordinate with your team in a more competitive style of play. As such, players with working microphones will be given priority over those without them.
Teams Players are sorted into teams based on the classes they prefer to play and their skill level, with the aim being to keep both teams balanced for a fair and fun fight. The total player limit will be 12, meaning the match will be a typical 6v6 ETFL2 game.
Team leaders are selected for each team and will generally have more competitive experience. Their job is to discuss general tactics with the team and order other players about during the match, as well as getting their players ingame and finding replacements should any not turn up.
*Win Free Items & Hats!* No items will be gambled this fight night to keep it more friendly due to the new format.
Voice Chat Mumble is a much higher quality alternative to the regular in-game voice chat you use on public servers, and is used in all HH events. It can be downloaded here, and takes about 10 minutes to setup.
Once installed you will be guided through a wizard to setup your audio settings. By default Mumble is setup to automatically transmit your voice when you speak, however for gaming it is highly recommended that you switch to Push to Talk mode and set the voice key to a different one than the one you use in TF2. You can configure this setting on the 'Voice Activity Detection' page of the wizard.
Once configured, choose Server -> Connect -> Add New. Enter settings as listed below: Servername: Hampshire Heavies Mumble Server Address: mumble.thehh.co.uk Port: 50114 Username: [your name]
Once connected, you can join different channels to speak to the people within them by double-clicking on the channel name.
Rules
Be on the server by at least 6.50pm (GMT) so we can make a swift start
You must stay for the full hour
If you can't make it, tell your team leader well before the match
Only vanilla items + kritz allowed
6v6 team format; Medic, Heavy and Demoman limited to 1, any other class is limited to 2
Utility classes are allowed
A total of 2 rounds will be played, lasting 30 minutes each - at the end of round 1 the map will be changed
Win limit = most points after 30 minutes of play
It is the job of the team leader to arrange their team according to skill and preference
Advice
Stick together and protect your medic
Consider your role in the team, your position in the map and the unlocks you will use based on your class
Use voice comms when needed, but be concise
To Signup Reply to the thread with the following info:
Your preferred 3 classes
Your Steam profile URL
Whether you have a working microphone
Please also indicate if you would like to be a team leader.
Once the teams have been organized I will PM all players with the name of their team leader (who they should add to their Steam friends) , the server info and the maps being played.
Re: Fight Night 6v6 - Saturday 9th Apr from 7pm GMT
Let's get this started again. I would appreciate to know whether or not we should gamble items in this match since it's been a while since we had our last match.
Also, I need someone to arrange the server properly since I don't have a clue what to do.

Even if you cannot come to this fight night, please do reply saying you can't come but still interested in this event. It will help more than you think.

ETF2L league rules apply? What the heck, I thought this was just a community event thrown in for fun? I can't play charging demo anymore, despite the fact that I've done well with it in the past events?
And please explain what makes, say, the Brass Beast and Buffalo Steak so OP that they absolutely cannot be used, because that's beyond me while the spy can use dead ringer and whatever he wants. Scouts only have one secondary weapon choice...boring, soldiers can only opt for equalizer or pain train (what's OP about buff banner or direct hit? :/).
I'm interested but I don't like the change to even more srs business-competitive style of play.
Re: Fight Night 6v6 - Saturday 9th Apr from 7pm GMT
This is purely an experiment since a couple of times we play highlander even though only 6 players were on both teams. Besides, I think this event needs to be switched up more than just the usual highlander stuff, that gets quite boring after a while. Highlander only truly works when it's 9v9, any lower and you gets awkward because you are locked into one class and any deviation will cause drama, i.e. last fight night.
It has always been competitive, there are hats on the line after all.
I won't go into details about why stuff has been banned since that's up to ETF2L to decide. I suppose new HH rules can be made but that's quite unlikely since most (I assume) has a vendetta against new weapons and the effort that has to be put into it.

How about we stick with default items?
I'm in in any case.
Preferred classes -Medic -Heavy -Engineer (My downtime has severely reduced my Engi skills, so it's not first on my list unlike most of the time) (push comes to shove, I can do Pyro as well)
Re: Fight Night 6v6 - Saturday 9th Apr from 7pm GMT
How about Medic, Heavy and Demoman limit 1,Classlimit 2 and all unlocks allowed and let the teams choose what class they want to play. Trying to play highlander with fixed class on 6v6 just doesn't work. And unlocks won't be a issue if you're allowed to pick a class to counter them.
I would consider joining if I knew I don't have to play certain class without ability to change class or use items to counter demonkights/sharan2ezdeadringers.

Vanilla items + kritz would be ace. I'd definitely be up for that.
