Post Volunteers to run events
iRPAx has been doing a fine job organizing Fight Nights as of late, however the reality is that one man will not be able to organize an event every week. Real life stuff can get in the way, and it can get tiring doing it several weeks in a row. I'm looking for people who can volunteer to get events like Fight Night and New Map Night happening, not every week, but when someone else is unable to step in.

If there is interest from several people - and anyone can get involved in organizing events, member or reg - I will write up detailed instructions, with templates for the threads and PMs that need to be written, so that minimal work needs to be undertaken. You may be able to delegate tasks to other members of the community.

Fight Night (Saturday) involves

  • Posting a thread in the Matches subforum for signups
  • Sending a PM to past players to let them know of the upcoming match
  • Add the event to the site calendar and the HH Regs steam group
  • Organizing players into two teams and choosing a team leader - roughly half an hour. Advice can often be sought from community members and the players themselves
  • Team leaders organize their team's item gambles, rank them by worth, and redistribute - event organizer need not be involved
  • You need to turn on specific configs and SourceTV before the match takes place - any reg can do this
  • Either play, or keep TF2 in the background in spectator mode while you get on with other things
  • Turn off configs
  • Write up the next signup thread, or find another willing volunteer to organize the next week's event

New Map Night (Sunday) involves

  • Post threads on HH forums and TF2maps.net asking for WIP maps to test
  • Seek out WIP maps on tf2maps and ask their creators if you can playtest them
  • Decide which maps to play, and the time spent on each map - 5 maps is good for a 2 hour event, 3 or 4 maps if 1hr 30mins
  • Upload .bsp files to Dropbox and provide Frog with direct links, at least 2 days before the event
  • List maps to be played in the thread
  • Load map on server, turn on alltalk and post Steam group announcement to get people on
  • Keep people entertained over the course of the event
  • Post next thread, or find another willing volunteer to organize it

I will provide the resources needed to make organizing these events as easy as possible. If you're interested, please reply to this thread or contact me on Steam. Thanks :)
