SUMMER SHOWDOWN #1
HAMPSHIRE HEAVIES vs. TRIGGERHAPPYGAMERS

This is the first in a series of community matches between the Hampshire Heavies and various TF2 communities. To kick off the season we are having a match with TriggerHappyGamers.

Players of all skill levels and backgrounds can play for the Hampshire Heavies, however you should be prepared for a higher level of strategy and teamwork than you're used to on our public servers. If you have any questions about the event, don't hesitate to ask here or send me a PM.

Date & Format

• Sunday 31st July
• 7pm GMT+1 (British Summer Time)
• 8pm GMT+2 (Central European Summer Time)
• on HH server 5 - 217.146.85.240:27055
• 9 vs 9
• One player per class
• Two maps chosen by the opposing team, 30 mins each
• All items pre-Uber Update are allowed. Items that were released with the Uber Update or afterwards are banned.

Voice chat
Mumble will be used for voice chat - follow this easy guide to set it up. Microphones are highly recommended for community events as a greater level of communication than found on public servers is needed.

Team leaders
This is an important job and I'd be grateful to anyone willing to take it on. Your role as a team leader is to add your teammates to Steam friends, ask them to get onto Mumble, and collect and re-distribute items for item-gambling. You do not necessarily need to coordinate your team in game.

Win items & prizes
Before the match, each player hands in an item (can be of any value) to their team leader. Players on the winning team get their items back afterwards, and also receive an item from the losing team. The better the item you gamble, the better the item you'll receive.

Watch live
The event will be broadcast in a number of ways. It can be watched live on SourceTV (type connect hh5.thehh.co.uk:27155 into console), through your browser on a justin.tv stream (with commentary from our finest voices), or after the match with a SourceTV demo that will be uploaded. Players must not listen to the justin.tv commentary.

Rules

• Stay on the server for the full hour
• If you can't attend, let your team leader know well before the match
• Be prepared to communicate and cooperate with your teammates

Advice

• Buy a microphone and set it up
• Stay with your teammates in a group - if you're a core fighting class you shouldn't go off by yourself
• Protect your medic

• Reply to the thread with your best 3 classes,
• the item(s) you wish to gamble,
• your Steam profile URL,
• whether you have a working microphone,
• and whether you would like to lead your team.

After nine players have signed up we could still really do with some backup players, so continue posting! If you signup but don't get to play this time around, you'll get priority in our next Summer Showdown event.

Items: Reclaimed - Not got a great deal in my backpack atm as have been a bit craft happy of late.

It would be great if we could get the team together as soon as possible to try a scrim or something to get a feel of things.
