Any HH reg or clan member can play this community game, which will run for several weeks.

First of all
In Mafia, players are split into two teams by the Moderator. Town, and Mafia. Each player is told their team in private.

Mafia Scum all know who else is Mafia Scum, and therefore know who is a Townie. Townies don't know for sure whether their neighbour is a fellow Townie, or Mafia Scum in disguise. The Mafia must use paranoia and misdirection to win, while the Townies must see through their lies and take back their town.

Night Phase
During the Night Phase, Mafia Scum meet in secret to vote on which Townie they wish to murder. The vote is passed to the Moderator, who posts the result on the public forum.

Day Phase
The Townies awake to see that a fellow Townie has been killed. During the Day Phase, everyone speaks publicly and votes based on who they think is Mafia Scum. This player is lynched, and the identity of the player revealed as Townie or Mafia Scum.

Winning
The game is won when all players of one team have been eliminated.

Also...
Only Mafia Scum may communicate in private. During the Day Phase, Townies (and fake-Townies) may communicate on the public forum. Townies may not communicate about the game outside of the public forum.

Some Townies will have special roles - for example the Sheriff can 'investigate' one player during the Day Phase, and the moderator will tell him if that player is Mafia Scum. This might influence his voting choices, but he'll need to be careful - if he lets on that he's the Sheriff, the Mafia may decide to make him their next target.

If you'd like to get involved in this, please state your interest below and say whether you are able to come on the forum every day, or only every other day, so I can set a long enough time for each phase. The number of participants will determine extra game rules, like secret roles taken on by some Townies.

We could also do with a narrator - someone who can write a little story around each death.

To help the narrator, when signing up officially (later on) players could give a few bits of info about their character. Their career, hobbies, things like that.

I should mention that if you're playing, there's no requirement to get online at any particular time of day. All discussion is done through the forums for Townies + fake Townies/Mafia Scum, and a simple website I'm setting up for private Mafia discussion. You just need to get on at least once every 48 hours to cast your vote.
