On the whole we (the Regs) got mostly trashed by the Clanners (boooo!) during the first two maps which to my mind was 'the match'. However, we managed a couple of solid wins on Badlands after Clan had taken the first 3 or 4 rounds. I don't remember what the final score was though - perhaps one of the others can? On Gravelpit I had to vanish for a round or two cos my in-game sound cut out leaving me with TS only which was a remarkable experience to say the least. I vaguely remember the scores being mostly even but I could be wrong there. We suffered a little for not having a couple of people on Teamspeak (and not really enough time to get it sorted out) but BLU graciously agreed to turn Alltalk off which made a difference. Next time (and I do hope there'll be a next time) we need to make sure everyone has TS before the game. The Clan suffered from the league team members having to disappear quickly to sort some stuff out which left an already slightly outnumbered Clan side even worse off. We lent them Vannystick and a couple of others later on (Finis you traitor Tactically we put into practice some of the tactics some of us had picked up from the league team which as we settled in got more sensible - no pyros, protect the medics, travel as a pack, regroup and attack etc.. And from that perspective it was jolly good game. It did end up being 10 vs 11 or something so it wasn't ideal 'match' conditions. On the whole I had tremendous amounts of fun, both losing and winning and the more we do this in match like conditions the better I think we'll play. I think those of us on TS got more out of it overall because of the extra layer of voice comms (So go download it Dr. Gash! Thanks everyone for a good evening. |

Oh, and rather edit my last post i'll just add another... Next time -
If you sign up, make sure you have Teamspeak installed - that way we can leave Alltalk on the server and abuse the other team whilst still having our own voice comms. Maybe limit the team sizes on a first come first served basis, with a reserve list and then give the people that want to play but are too late on posting first option on the next game to ensure fairness and that everyone who wants to gets a shot. Just a thought or two. |

Well said Sarge. With that faffage time out of the way we could use the time before the macth to get a game plan together. Might be an idea when signing up for the next one for people to state their class preferences too. Organisation is every bit as important as individual DMing prowess |

Good point, and good idea DJ. I wonder if that would be as simple as signups stating their class preference in advance. We might run into the problem of all the early signups wanting to play a Scout or something, so people need to have a second and/or third choice. It's important that people are prepared to be flexible on this, or they negotiate with each other pre-game (and preferably nicely I suspect there will always be last minute changes, but if most of the people know what they're doing then ironing out details should be straight forward enough. |
