Thunder Runner aka arthur123 and Juiss are now participating in an admin system test on the FF2 server.
The admin system is based on warnings. Thunder Runner and Juiss can issue specific warnings to players for various predefined reasons. After receiving a warning, the player is also reminded of the rules and requested to agree to them. If a player receives more than 3 warnings, then they receive a temporary ban and are kicked from the server.
Please note: This system is not necessarily the full or final admin system that will be issued to FF2 admins

Re: FF2 Warning System - Test
In fact, that's more a moderation system than an admin one! We needed it, so no complain (it's even better i think)!
So far, I'm fine with how the system works except for 2 things: 1. We don't have any way to silence the players, I just had to go through the trouble of warning someone 3 times in a row for mic-spamming which ofc gets them banned, I think it's a bit harsh (and kinda tedious to do) when I should've just been able to mute him after the first warning.
2. The lack of a banning command. I understand that the warning system was put in place for that but it has it's flaws. Say we encounter a hacker, it seems kinda silly having to go through the menus 3 times to ban him temporarily all the while hoping he doesn't use a name changer when we should be just able to type "sm_ban <steamid> 0 hacking" and be done with it. But that's pretty specific and rare so whether we need it or not is debatable.
I'd like to have a way to gag and mute players, at the very least.
All players need to be warned and given chances to reconsider their behaviour. This system takes care of that. If someone can't abide by the rules after 3 warnings, then a temporary ban is what they deserve. It will not come as a surprise to them, as the warnings they receive inform of the potential ban.
If after doing it once and you're finding it tedious and troublesome having to warn someone, then perhaps you're not really into being an admin.
I'm not 'finding' it tedious, it really is more time-consuming than it should be. nvm I just found out you could do it faster by typing /warn <player> 1-7 ignore everything I've said.
How about warning a player for mic-spamming automatically mutes them until the map changes/they rejoin. Perhaps also add a chat spam option that gags the player?
A mic spamming warning now mutes the player until the next map, or a rejoin.
A chat spamming warning gags the player until the next map or a rejoin.
I really I'd like to keep this system as simple, consistent and straight forward as possible, so that it deals with 99% of the issues. I don't have the time to work on rare occurrences.
There should be an auto-banning system for hackers that name change rapidly.
24 hours, so I am thinking that this means that it's not linking in with mysql bans correctly. I've not had any time to do any testing on this myself, and the only testing is directly from what you and Thunder Runner do.
