Recently, there's been a decline of active players on the server. It used to be a consistent 32 man server with plenty of newcomers and regulars. Ever since around late August, the popularity of the server has dropped pretty rapidly. It is rare to get more than 24 players at the same time now.
Player Stats: Current Players: 8 / 32 Average (past month): 9
It could be due to the lack of attention or it's just that time of year again. Whatever it is, we don't need a repeat of HH2.

Re: HH4 Player Decline
If bugs dont get fixed then who wants to play on a broken server? We cant enjoy it unless bugs are fixed. We are lucky to get more than 10 players on at the moment. Ive been on other servers and they have been fixed but I dont enjoy them as much as its less challenging than the HH server. Please Frog. The community is calling out to you. Dont let this server die out. You have put so much effort in over the years for it all to go to waste. Some of us are very loyal to it and are quite saddened to see your server go downhill like this.
Life is busy. Time is short. Some things will now be working again.
Feedback on the operation of the new admin system with regards to banning wasn't forthcoming in the thread within which I asked for feedback.
ThunderRunner now as standard HH admin on the FF2 server.

Re: HH4 Player Decline
Looks like its all over for the HH FF2 server now. Not a single person has come on it since Monday. The only time we now ever get a decent amount of players or any players at all is on a weekend. Its really, really saddening to see the HH go down this way.
Its really, really saddening to see the HH go down this way.
And I've been here 6 years longer than you.
We don't really have a game that connects the members of the community like we used to have, which means that we're not getting many new members so we've been kind of dwindling away the past few years. Most people don't want to play the same game forever and finding a new game that pleases everyone who came here from TF2 is difficult.
There were multiple smaller games that we had servers for and people played as a community, but TF2 was the game that connected all of us and well, I guess it just got a bit old. Sam did a great job reviving the servers and people's interest for the game ever since he started organizing events regularly a year ago, but once he too got busy with life, people went back to their separate games again.
8 years is a long time. Enough time for people's lives to change in a way that they don't have the time or interest to play the same games anymore (or games at all). People who've been here since the early days stop coming. And without new members, it is only natural that community activity slows down. I think this is a pretty common phenomenon in communities like the HH and without people who can put time and effort into getting more people in, there's not much that can be done about it.
But we'll still be here at least for a while longer though! If the servers are still going on the weekends, that's great! The forums are still here to connect the community even if we're not playing the same games anymore.
Cheer up, it's Christmas!

It's not so much the early community members but rather the server itself. We had a consistent 32 man server with a stable, working game not even long ago. But after the Gun Mettle update, a truck load of problems popped up including regular crashes of the server (clearing the server of players) and inconsistency in gameplay with over half the weapons in the game being disabled or useless.
There were plenty of newcomers joining and staying on the server everyday because it worked, not because of the wider H|H community. HH4 has pretty much its own embedded community, very few even know this website or other H|H servers exist. Now, there's still the same amount of newcomers, but they leave simply because it's broken. Why do you think every other FF2 server has a lot of active players?
