I am playing on the FF2 servers and I am usally the only one having a high ping. It is usally above 150 and I am the only one having it. I can play on any other server around the world and my ping won't even be above 60. I also have a quite good internet connection. It is only on that server and I am usally the only on the server that has that big ping. Can someone explain maybe why and how I can fix it?
Our box is plugged into a router called vss-3-6k. You can see this router in the first hop of the traceroute results that you obtained from http://www.thehh.co.uk/hh2u. Each step or hop is another router in the Internet on the route between our server and your PC.
Some of the routers in the results, such as vss-3-6k, rbx-g2-a9, gsw-g1-a9, fra-5-6k, can be found on the following live internet traffic weather maps provided by the company that hosts our server.
This is the data centre.
This is the backbone on which everywhere else in the world connects to it.
All the routers are labelled and you can follow the connections between routers that match the results from your traceroute. It would seem what fra-5-6k is the primary cause of the higher ping you are experiencing.
Routers or connections that are coloured red connection are near, or are at, saturation point, and will be significantly contributing to the overall latency of your connection to us.
In addition to network usage, there may also be problems or planned maintenance that could affect connectivity to the HH server. Anything of this nature will be listed on our provider's status page. http://status.ovh.co.uk/?order=status&p ... sort2=desc look out for routers listed in your traceroute or the Roubaix 3 data centre or dedicated servers in general.
Unfortunately, all of this is outside of our control, but at least it gives some understanding and insight it to what might be the cause of the problem.
Of course, it's also a possibility that there are issues with your router, ISP and anywhere else across the route between your PC and the HH server, so it's always worth checking whatever status information that your ISP provides.
