Post Quick question about the rules.
Is it against the rules to purposely use vote gag to gitch the server into extending the map an additional round. I just wanted to make sure either way.

Edit: My apologies, I did not see the post about gagging or I would have replied there instead.

It's fine to start a new thread here for this.

When you say "staying on the same map between rounds" do you mean, stopping the server from changing map when the map timer runs out?

Glitching is not permitted.

When did this happen and what exactly happened?

When the map time runs out it causes everyone to "map change" onto the same map.

Yesterday someone said they were going to extend the map, they called for a vote gag, the map "changed" to itself after time was up, repeat x4. They also did it today, but politely and less often, instead of annoyingly changing to the same map over and over. It definitely involves vote gag, but might have other factors; Toaster Abuse could give you a better list of what to do to replicate the results.

Thanks for the explanation, I'll sort out patching the glitch in the next day or so.

....and punish the instigators. ;)

You can use any vote to do this glitch, I suppose to fix this you need to disable any sort of voting ~30 seconds prior to the map vote.

I was the first one to discover this glitch and didn't abuse it... much

I thought I could trust Harry with the knowledge of this glitch but I guess that ended up not being the case, but I suppose people probably figured out how to do it when they saw me trying to votegag my self prior to the map vote continuously

Ah so that's the name of game that's being played half of the time on HH4.

It's a real shame that you didn't think to make a post reporting this or message me about it. [mixed]

I haven't been on TF2 for a while now and when I left this glitch wasn't an issue but I guess that's changed now and I can agree I should've mentioned it

Turns out the issue was with a widely used and popular map vote plugin, that we use on all of our servers, rather than anything I'd written.

A patch has been made and our servers updated.

The patch didn't quite work and a minor rewrite of core map vote system is required.
